from "A Century of Mizpah No. 191"......
In 1891 a courageous group of Masons decided to form a Masonic Lodge in South St. Paul, receiving the 191st charter in the State of Minnesota. By working together, more good men joined and by 1916 there was enough interest in having a meeting place the Mizpah Lodge #191 was built and dedicated. Since the Lodge was chartered there has been over 1400 good brothers raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason. I joined Mizpah Lodge in 1950 and have been active since. Masonry has been very good to me by allowing me to meet and associate with so many good people in all walks of life. Many have passed to the Celestial Lodge Above but their memories will always be with me. I feel very fortunate and honored by being elected to serve my Lodge as Master twice, in 1961 and 1985, and having the Hiram Award conferred on me in 1989 being the highlights of my Masonic life. By being a mason for the past 41 years, I am sure has made me a better man in many ways. Times have changed a lot in the past 100 years and Masonry is working hard to keep up with the world without losing the basic precepts layed down so many years ago that has made thousands of good men better by being a mason and living by the teachings of Masonry. I am optimistic that Masonry will survive and will flourish again and will be an influence on the lives of many good men in the years to come
